Fortress of Deva

The Fortress of Deva is one of the most significant fortifications from the Middle Ages in Transylvania and a prominent tourist attraction in Hunedoara County. Built on a volcanic hill that bears its name (the Fortress Hill), it served as a strategic defense point on the Mureșului Valley, which lies between the Transylvania and Banat regions.
